yay for the meaning of Christmas!!
all the holiday-stuff has sure been fun...
shopping, wrapping, treat-making, craft-doing...
but this is the really good stuff.
the Christmas-sermon-series at church this year
has been refreshing and completely encouraging to say the least!
especially for me being right in the center of all the holiday retail-frenzy
it's been nice to be reminded of why we do what we do...
why we give..
why we love...
why we should keep on fostering hope and joy!
if God could be humble enough to come as a baby
-and live and die so that we could know God-
we could certainly humble ourselves enough to take note
and let our hearts respond with gratitude and worship!

advent...(mon.11.30)
sweet little jewel i found on our Christmas table at B&N today...
Advent (from the Latin word adventus meaning "coming") is a season observed in many Western Christian churches, a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas.
i sat for a few minutes and took in the first chapter...
the theme was pretty simple and very profound i thought:
as believers, weary of the hype/commercialized season,
we should seek to celebrate the coming of Christ by
spending less,
giving more, and
worshipping fully.

first 'black friday' i've worked in years.......
wow. what a rush!
the economy may be in rough shape, but that sure didn't stop these crazy shoppers!
i may not have succeeded just yet, but i'm determined to embrace the work-schedule and enjoy the season..
maybe the secret is not to see how much joy i can squeeze from the season, but to take/make opportunities to make it enjoyable for others! (wow. why didn't i think of this sooner!? i'm pretty sure that's the answer to my holiday dilemma!!)
