Character

(summer 2010 with little D)
The best movie I saw this year was The Help.

My favorite character in the movie was the reporter/ writer/ liberator who used her skills and assets for the good of the oppressed.

She was not trying to be a saint. She was not trying to be heard. She was not trying to make a name for herself.

She was a listener, a lover, a friend, and a catalyst for freedom.

She spoke up for those who had no voice.

She spent her time on behalf of the poor and oppressed.

And though it was not without opposition, critiscism, or great sacrifice, she leveraged all she had to do something that mattered.

Boring stuff...

In the movie UP there's a part (several actually) that bring me to tears every time.

Especially when the boy scout tells Mr. Fredrickson about his busy dad and his fondest memories of eating ice cream and counting cars. He says, It may sound boring, but, the boring stuff is what I remember most.

The 'boring stuff' is my favorite too.

School favorites...

School days can be long and hard, but everyday we have little breakthroughs and sweet moments that we can't let go uncelebrated.

Challenges and all, my teacher-partner & I thank God every day for these little treasures!

{A few faves from last week: Playing with food, learning our numbers and a little popscicle party thanks to the generous teacher next door...}
